ZAMBOANGA DEL SUR, January 29, 2019 -- On Monday morning, in the midst of bombings in Jolo conducted by terrorists, former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) and 2019 senatorial candidate Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go assured Zamboangeños that he and President Rodrigo Duterte will support the continued development of the Zamboanga Peninsula in the form of various projects and initiatives.

The former SAP made this statement on Date Line Teleradyo, a Zamboanga City-based public affairs program.

It is well documented that President Rodrigo Duterte is the first person from Mindanao elected to become President of the the Philippines. Vital to his victory is his intention of prioritizing the concerns and issues of Mindanao via programs and other initiatives.

“Rest assured that the government remains committed in fulfilling its promise in giving an equal share of the national wealth to Mindanao,” Duterte mentioned in a past interview.

Nowadays, one of the Mindanao-oriented initiatives of the Duterte administration being heavily discussed is the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL). Duterte wants to implement this to help areas in Mindanao achieve needed progressive development and lasting peace.

Bong Go, a long-time aide of Duterte and a fellow Mindanao native, intends to also enact programs that would benefit Mindanao and its provinces like those in the Zamboanga Peninsula upon being elected to the Senate.

Go mentioned to the show’s hosts.

“Most importantly, ang education. (Mahalaga din), of course, itong usaping pangkalusugan. Go added.

An aspiring senator in the 2019 elections, Bong Go has a legislative agenda that covers agriculture, housing, improved delivery of healthcare services, education, long-term sports development, fire protection and prevention, localized peace talks, anti-drugs and criminality drive, anti-corruption drive, barangay welfare, the creation of a Department of OFWs, and improved benefits for senior citizens.

Tutulong at tutulong po kami,” Go reassured Mindanoans, including Zamboangeños, that he will work in tandem with President Duterte to improve their way of life.
